Susan,
 
I thought it was about time to give you an update on how my boy is doing!!
 
We sat on him for the first time last week - I had taken his training slowly as I was in no rush and he seemed to prefer it - well, clearly this approach worked quite well as he was so settled when I sat on him that he walked off and broke himself in! I have attached some pictures - i think if he was anymore laid back about it he would have been asleep.
 
We have had endless fun with him already, he is so keen to please and mostly well behaved, only a little cheeky - which just makes him even more enjoyable to train.
 
Our plan is to ride him for a couple of months now - then give him a little more time to physically grow and mature - although he is already turning into a handsome young man :-) so we will pick up his ridden training in spring/summer next year.
 
Very sorry to hear about Sayan - it is especially hard to lose a good horse so young.
 
I hope the rest of the family and horses are well.
