| This mare was
imported in utero when we purchased Kremona from
Neumünster in 1993. She is sired by Olympic show jumper Almox Prints
J. and has certainly inherited the talent for jumping from her sire as
well as having outstanding paces so a real sports horse.
She was backed and lightly ridden as a 3 year old and then had her first foal at 5, an outstanding colt who unfortunately died at 6 weeks old from a leaking bladder. She was covered by HG Solomon the day before Korbel died and then went on to be a foster mother at the National Stud at Newmarket. With all the stress we were sure she would not conceive but she did and the next year she had the outstanding chestnut colt HP Korbel who was presented for grading in 2003 and narrowly missed being approved due to his size. Her most recent foal was the Bay colt HP Kosmic who has again inherited the outstanding sports attributes from his parents. After her 3rd foal it was felt we should ride Katie while she was still young enough to train and she was re-backed as an 8 year old and went on to become Champion of the Mare Performance Test in 2003. She has also done some unaffiliated jumping ridden by Harriet Gould where she has shown very exciting talent. The dilema now is do we keep riding her or do we put her back in foal to produce some more outstanding sports horses!? She has however proved to be a wonderful riding horse and used by Paul as his hacking horse and as a Schoolmaster for our work experience students - what a star she is! |
